It doesn't surprise me a bit to see the Blackhawks minor league team pummeling the Red Wings' minor leaguers in those fights. Ken Holland and the rest of the Red Wings organization doesn't believe in having any size or toughness on his teams - and prefers to draft primarily from the European ranks. When teams composed of such players do not win - which they haven't in several years - it makes it tough to be a fan and get into the games.
  • Wow, that was a brutal scrap.

That's the ugly side of hockey everyone sees. Most of the dirty play that leads up to this kind of thing goes unnoticed.

Nice little Donneybrook there, something must have happen before to make everyone get involved.

Took me a full minute before I realized these were men fighting... why were they hugging so much? A couple guys even looked like they were dancing together! lol

Turkey AHL announcer made it much worse IMO.

One of those deals where frustration and a tally of lopsided calls leads to AHL level beatings. Rockford (the pink uni-ed team) had been assessed five-straight minor penalties in the first 11 minutes of the second period. The Griffins (Wings' AHL affiliate) had capitalized on two of those opportunities and then the 5th call set Rockford off after a Griffin dove err accrued a hooking penalty and then a subsequent third PP score. Rockford sent out noted meathead and future Bruin, Kyle Beach. He's the dope who pummeled Riley Sheahan at center ice and continued to engage even after Sheahan went down. 3 Griffins players left the bench to go after Beach and that's when the benches cleared. In a truly brilliant move by the AHL, they failed to suspend 2 of the 3 Grand Rapids players for leaving the bench ensuring that round two will be forthcoming. 11 suspensions for Rockford, 2 for GR.

Oh, this game was also parents day in Rockvegas. Hence the pink charity jerseys. Parents of the Rockford roster were in attendance to witness their transgression in opting for no birth control.

It's not easy to fight on ice skates.

If you don't really want to fight, you try to pair up with another non-fighter. The reason for the "hugging" is that you want to "keep your enemy close" and not allow him to get off a sucker punch on you.

For the record, those fans aren't familiar with how hockey has been played since it's inception.

Yeah, pretty much the epitome of "bush league" is that announcer.
