Kaepernick's Lucky Denarius

Just watching ESPN and 49er QB Colin Kaepernick showed as well as briefly described the importance of a Denarius he wears on necklace to give himself inspiration as a "gladiator".
Couldn't quite make out the obverse - maybe Augustus?

PS - Go 'Niners!

Cool story. Wonder who was on it too.

Well, this is image story day...he's an interesting fellow AND a numismatist! My only two football teams I pay any attention to anymore are the 49s and the Ravens. When they were both playing for Superbowl berths I assumed they both would lose (yay negative thinking!) but now I have to figure out who I like more. The Denarius just might make me favor Tattoo-Boy's team.

Haven't seen a still and I saw on the ESPN interview after the NFC championship game. Not tech savvy enough to get a freeze frame of it.
At first I thought it might have been Caligula but with only a split second impression think it was Augustus.
