Speaking of Tax Returns, what will you be purchasing with yours?

Will any of you be using any of your tax returns on any specific cards? Unfortunately not for me, however, more than half of mine will be set aside to purchase my plane ticket and hotel for the Nationals and a little bit of play money for when I'm at the show.

How about everyone else?

It will not cover the total, but it will go toward my kids school tuition. Private grade schools are expense.
After those four National League games, Gorman Thomas was never the same, and neither were the Brewers, and come to think of it neither was I.

I try not to give the federal government any significant interest-free loans if I can help it. If it's like last year, I can buy 2 packs of Topps (or a burger) with the money.

I have no idea what our return will be. I know there were some changes to tax brackets or some mess I didn't pay attention to, so I figure it'll be less than last year, which mean no purchases for me.

Coming from a tax accountant this is exactly how you want to play it. $100 either way is where you want to be. Looks like I'm going to owe a tad bit this year.

Since I am completely incapable of saving money on my own, and even if I did save money, my savings account earns me about .000000002% interest, so I don't mind the U.S. Government helping me sock away a few grand and handing me a check every February. I scratch their back (minimal interest) and they scratch mine (decent return). I'm very "impressed" with people who can get their return close to the $0.00 mark, but I think I might jump off a cliff if I had to owe thousands of dollars at tax time. For me, tax time is a fun time. For those who play the even-steven game at tax time it's a stressful time. For the ~$6 in possible earned interest, I'll take the fun time. image

We always owe money at tax time. But, that means we're making money so I'm ok with it. A fortunate situation to be in.

I haven't gotten a tax return since I was a teenager. I have a kiddo on the way, so next year I'll owe less.

Congrats, are you going to name him/her Frank Thomas. ..and then your last name? That would be awesome... Or maybe just Big Hurt for a middle name?

I will also not be seeing any tax return this year.

Despite my wife insisting we name him Frank Thomas, I finally convinced her of the error in her ways and we're going much more traditional. What he lacks in name, I'm sure he'll make up for in size, so nicknames are fair game.

  • I'll be paying, as most of the year was spent consulting. Quarterly estimates would've been the smart move, but I've never been that smart.

I'll live vicariously through y'alls scans though.

I will be SENDING the feds a 1952 Topps Yogi Berra PSA 8 and Missouri a 1956 Topps Mantle PSA 5. But I plan to do a Phil Mickelson and work less this year (but play more golf).
