Would you send these in for grading?... PCGS GRADES AND TRUVIEWS ADDED. Happy I am!

I recently purchased a set of 3 New Orleans Morgan Dollars in some sort of velvet lined box that someone would have probably bought of QVC or something. Well all the obverses are nicely toned but a little beat up. They are common dollars. I would graded them all around MS63. Would you have them graded by PCGS?

Nice! If any I would have the 2ND one slabbed,but a fair warning: If purchased at QVC or another T.V.shopping site,be careful of "cleaned" coins! I'm not saying yours are cleaned but be forewarned. Watch out! - joey

I just want to preserve them and possibly upgrade their value. They will be much esier to sell in PCGS plastic, too, if that were something I would eventually do.

Take it from somebody who has submitted coins like this: It is not worth the money you spend to have them slabbed. The toning isn't that nice and you won't recover the money you have spent for the coins plus slabbing.

I would reconsider the grading decision, the toning is toward the back end of the process to where it's not as attractive. Even in the slab, there's the chance it will tone darker than the brown you have on your examples.

No. Why would you want to spend so much, relative to the value of the coins, on grading? Aren't these worth, say, $50 each?

I ended up sending them in and trueviewed. I am very impressed! I thought they were all MS62ish. Can you believe how bad my photos were compared to the trueviews?

Any idea how you got them graded in one month? I assume they were sent in Economy?

Couldn't you have taken advantage of the quarterly special and got the Trueviews for free? I really like the pictures. amazing how much different they look compared to yours

Well done! I love the photos. And you did a little better than you guessed.

I'm still not convinced it made a lot of financial sense. But it isn't always about money. And I know you will enjoy them even more with spectacular pictures.
