Have you ever bought a raw coin...
Have you ever bought a raw coin that in your opinion was not that great and you would never buy it for your own collection but you buy it thinking you can pass it along with a profit? I've never sold a coin that wasn't in my collection prior to selling it so I have a difficult time looking at coins that I don't want myself but have in mind to try to make a small profit from it. What do you think the best approach would be, buy and sell only what you would enjoy owning or buy and sell whatever you can profit on?

i have to split the difference. 90% i try to only sell what i'd like to own and the other 10% are items i buy for re-sale for a variety of reasons
i see stuff i have no interest in but know others do have, so i bend occasionally
.
But might enjoy a coin you could make a profit on.

Not everyone sees it that way. Some don't know the difference and believe it or not some don't care.

+1......very recent example, dealer at the local show had a NEWP 1795 large cent, plain edge variety, VG details, a few light patches of corrosion and verdigris, otherwise decent
detail, date, etc. $85......I already have a nice smooth 'perfect' VG in my set, but figured this was easily $150+ coin, so I snapped it up.
Next day some friends stopped over before going out to dinner, and I showed it to him, and he quickly said 'hey I need one of those, and it's only $85!' since my price paid was still on it.....umm, that's what I paid, and I think it's worth quite a bit more than that, but you can have it for $100....Sold!
