CSA Stamps......an interesting esoteric small series....

I had a few a loooong time ago but have spent some time looking over Internet info and dealer sites.... And I'm wondering how these stand as a collecting side road. It seems that if your goal is one stamp of each type...it's pretty (too) easy. So you complicate itt up and only collect stamped covers or blocks of four etc....what concerns me are the huge amount of these printed and making a complete and substantial collection is just writing checks...what fun would that be? Have CSA stamps risen with the 150th annv of the War. They're pretty neat but if they're not a challenge I would'nt even go there. Cimage

  • Most CS postage is common. I know a ton of CS stamps and for sale in my town (gettysburg) very cheap. There are a few that might be harder to come by. Again condition is everything. Its like CS bonds. They were used as insulation is older houses along with horse hair. When I got my 1st appartment in York Springs (about 10 miles north of gburg) the attic was insulated with horse hair and CS bonds and newspaper. I have a piece I broke off. That should tell you the value of these things.

Haha good tale on the bonds! Greedysburg eh? My Buddy Rob Gibson has a wet plate portrait studio there...
