1958 & 1959 Topps Football question?????

I was looking at a bunch the other day and there was some that were clearly NM-MT. The part on the reverse that you can rub to see the answer.....Does it have to be unrubbed to get an 8 or higher? Thanks in advance.

Can anyone else chime in on this?
  • I suppose if the surface was undamaged, they would be fine.

Anyone else with experience on the back portion and grading?

  • Personally, I would want them unrubbed if I were going to build a NM-MT set.

While they can still be very nice rubbed, I think they should have some kind of qualifier to note that.

I would not be happy if I bought a NM-MT card and that info was not disclosed. Kind of like a wax stain.
