RIP. Great coach, fun to watch. Probably a little biased as an Orioles fan, but can't think of another coach over the last 40 years with a better personality. Maybe Lasorda, but i'll take Earl.

IIRC, I once read a story about Earl Weaver and one of his "ARGUMENTS" with an umpire during the game. Supposedly Earl and the umpire, along with their spouses, were friends. When Earl came out of the dugout to "argue" a call, he was actually inviting the umpire and his wife to dinner that night. But in his "EARLESQUE" fashion he made it seem like he was arguing.

Any unopened Baseball cello and rack packs and boxes from the 1970's and early 1980s.
I find that hard to belive, but maybe in the good old days. How either of them kept from laughing is beyond me.
And did the ump put a piece of gum in his mouth about 1/3 of the way through the argument?
