I would say fake.. The rounded corners on the flip scares me. I have never seen them rounded like that.

If you can check out the card in person, bring along a loupe and check out the basketball on the back.

The slab itself doesn't look right- corners are too rounded and the slip is down too far from the top. Also the ridges in the middle that hold the card in place look too thick. Maybe I'm wrong and this is an early slab.
  • I don't like the label and the centering either - especially for a 9. Pass this one up. You shouldn't be purchasing anything that you are having doubts about.

Fake. Also, the ridges that hold the card in are angled at the ends. I think they've always been straight, especially for any labels without the hologram on the back.

as phony as an online girlfriend.
  • It is not a real PSA holder.
  • Real or not, I wouldn't spend that kind of money on that centering.

  • Again, it is not a real PSA holder.

Granted I don't have and example of every generation of PSA slab made, but I checked through what I do have and could find nothing even close to what you are showing.

Not only is that not a PSA holder, but there is no way that Jordan would grade a 9. The centering and the corners would bring the grade to around a 7.5 at best.

The OP has made no comments about price or what he was willing to pay.
  • PSA has a PSA Logo in the plastic case on the bottom. I did not see the logo in the scans.

    I would probably say fake.

That is NOT a PSA slab. As already mentioned, I don't see the "PSA" letters on the plastic bottom right and I don't see the tamper-evident tabs on the edges of the slab.

Definitely a fake in my opinion.

Ummm, I'm assuming a mint Jordan RC would be "that kind of money." If it's being offered for anything but, that'd be double reason to just say no.

Thanks guys I really appreciate you helping me out I have been a member here a while but really have been just reading threads...I am going to embark on the 1986 Fleer set and might put a few up for analysis.

To the guys who are familiar with the Jordan Fleer RC do you think this card might be legit but in a fake case?

it seems to have all the correct markings for a real jordan but not a PSA 9

I need to see the card in hand, and especially the back of the card to determine if it is a fake.

You seem to be really trying to talk yourself into believing that this is not a scam. You have already been told that this is a fake/counterfeit PSA holder. But, you still want to believe that the card may be real. If the card were truly real and unaltered, why would there be any need to put it in a fake PSA holder? You have all the information you should need to walk away from this deal. It's up to you whether you do or not.

    Hiya Owen

    Didn't find a "1640" era graded card - but did find a "1639(0123)" holder.

The flip is "square" and as was said - and I believe - ALL plastic holders have a embossed "PSA" logo in the plastic - plus the style of the "corners" - from the original "Arrowhead" holder - are wrong - along with the design of all the plastic "borders" is all wrong.

The holder is a very bad knockoff IMO. So - I'm guessing the card is a fake?

Yeah it is very disappointing for the seller. I honestly believe he was not aware it was a fake. I have suggested if he feels the card is legit he should send it in to be regraded.
