Show and tell - My modest 1957 Topps collection

I always liked the minimalist layout of the '57 Topps set. The Campanella and Hodges cards just came back from PSA. The Campy has some real sharp corners and great gloss. I was expecting an 8 OC on it. I would think it's at least a 7.

The Aaron and Mays cards have been in my collection for many years. Just got them graded last year. The '57 Aaron is one of my all time favorite Topps cards - reverse negative and all. The Nellie Fox was a recent $22 eBay purchase. One can get some nice cards for cheap if willing to accept qualifiers.

Nothing modest about those cards, they are sweet.

The 1957 set along with the 1953 Bowman color have to be 2 of the purest sets ever.

I'd say that's a little nicer than modest, lol

    Thanks for the replies, guys.

Perk - yeah, 3 is a little low on the Mays. There is some surface wear on it so I think that's what did it in.

  • Those are nice cards, I love the 57 set along with the 53 Bowman.

My favorite in the 57 is the Mantle because of the player in the background that is airbrushed out.
You also can't beat that Dodger Slugger card with Campy, Hodges, Snider and I beleive Furillo.

Daniel, those are some really nice looking cards. I too love the Aaron. I am also a big fan of some of the rookies in the set....Drysdale, F Robby, B Robby, Kubek, Bunning and Richardson. They are some of the most artful cards Topps produced.

  • Those are very nice cards, not modest at all. I just started working on the set but mine are a lot more modest than yours. Beautiful set which will keep me occupied for a year or so. BTW, if you have any modest duplicates for sale, shoot me a email.

Hiya Daniel - very nice cards - I like the 57s also - I remember how some thought the smaller size lacked something - I liked the photos better.

The Aaron is my favorite card - the patch is what does it for me - too cool!

    Thanx for sharing.

    Those all present very well.

The three New York ballparks are fabulous backdrops for the photos in this set.
