Kennedy 50c, last year?

s4nys4ny Posts: 1,573 ✭✭✭
I woke up thinking that 2013 is the 50th year of the Kennedy half dollar. Will this be the last year?
Will there be a special edition? Will they become more collectible?

Yes,I love the Kennedies, all years, from beginning til now.but what is the use in minting these? They aren't let out ( so to speak ) to the public.Only through the mint,or online somewhere.Their falling victim just as the Presidential Dollars, not for the public! Why are they not to roam like their brothers and sisters ( cents, nickles, dimes and quarters ) ? They want to have fun too!image so to answer your question.NO,they probably won't end the program.Even though I think they might as well stop, and I think they should have some sort of special Edition to commend the 50th year. .imageimage

No it won't be the last year. The reasons have nothing to do with coins.

    No.

    No.

    and

    No.

Commemorative coins need a couple of years before Congress approves them but then the Kindergarden "think tank" at the US Mint might just come up with some special "packaging" that they'll sell you for $150!
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!

Maybe "S" and/or "W" minted satin and/or reverse proof silver for the anniversary.
Don't think any of these would need congress's blessing.

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

51st year is more likely, as in the 1996-W Roosevelt dime.

How about a 2014-W Kennedy half in next year's Mint Set?

My Adolph A. Weinman signature :)
