Removing scratches on holders

Looking for a tried and proven method of removing scratches on a few PCGS holders other than having them submitted for reholdering. Better the slab than the coin but some are right in the field of vision when looking at the coin.image

Thank you.

PlastX at auto parts stores. Works good on headlight covers too!

the PlastX recommended works well. Sometimes though, you got to bite the bullet and send in for reholder. I had to do that with a coin I picked up at FUN. The coin was stunning, the holder was not. To image the coin best, paying the reholder fee is worth it in this circumstance.

I agree with PlastX for PCGS. Be careful on NGC though as I have had it scratch badly.
  • Good Results with a product named SLAB-RENEW............search online as I don't have a connection...........

PlastX works better than Slab-Renew, costs less, and the nozzle doesn't clog.

Very true, or they may like their slabs "crusty"!

  • I use Novus No. 1 (Plastic Polish), No. 2 (Fine Scratch Remover), and No. 3 (Heavy Scratch Remover), depending on the severity of the scratches. On a heavy scratch, I would use No. 3, followed by 2 and 1. For light scratches, use No. 2, then 1. Wizard Coin Supply had plenty of these products at the 2013 FUN Show.
