Whitman Publishing will release A Guide Book of Civil War Tokens
this year (2013). Q. David Bowers is the author. Fred Reed wrote the
    foreword.

I proofread a copy of the book. It is a great book and a must-own even if you don't intend to own a Civil War Token.

    Awesome!
  • Thanks guys.
After reading an article in a recent "Numismatist", I am thinking of collecting these.
But I want to get the books first! image

Don't forget auction archives. Still the best way to go if the items in question has some kind of auction history.

That book is fine, but you really need:

Fuld, U.S. Civil War Store Cards

    and

Kanzinger, Teh Civil War Token Collectors Guide
  • There is a revised and updated book at the printers as we speak. For further information contact John Ostenoff @ CWTS or Steve Hayden. The release is expected sometime in 2014, possibly March. There probably won't be another major update as this for these issues in our lifetimes.
