Nice. You should get a nice stack of C Notes for that one. image

What were the subs when it was an 8.5?

Sorry. Gotta see it - the BGS slab / flip - to believe it. Never had a crack out BGS fly upward on a PSA sub. Usually down or EOT. image

I have basically stopped using Beckett. My first 10 or so submissions were great. I remember getting 24 9.5's out of 100 cards one time. Then all of sudden, the surface monster struck. The next few submissions, I would hardly ever get a 9.5. One submission I received 1 out of 140. All because of the ill fated 8.5 surface. Now mind you, these cards are newer cards, some right out of the pack. I could not find anything wrong with most of the surfaces. I complained several times, but they could care less. My last few submissions to PSA have been very fairly graded. i would say out of 200 or so card, I maybe disagreed with 5 that didn't go exactly my way. No big deal.

This stuff happens, folks. i've had it go the other way (psa 8.5 turned to a bgs 9.5), but depending on the issue the companies just grade differently. BGS is much harder on the reverse side (centering, especially). And say there was a thumbprint on the surface as an 8.5 Easy to remove.
Looking for rare Randy Moss rookies and autos, as well as '97 PMG Red Football cards for my set.

I tried finding the pic of the two 8.5 cases. Below, however is the sub after I purchased and cracked the 8.5s. When I owned this card, I sold this and it's other language friend for $7,000. I have no idea who owns the card now.

That gold refractor is such a beautiful card. Now's the time to buy Ichiro imo and that's the rookie card that I'd want in my collection.

I hit a psa 10 on the A-rod TR1 trade card years back after a bgs 8.5 crackout, turned 50 at the time into 500.

I then sent in the 20 best gary sheffield 89 uds i had out of 500~ hoping for a 10 or 2. Every single one was 9.5,9.5,9.5,8.5 bgs 9.

It would seem I share a few experiences from this thread :-)

    Please, exscuse my ignorance.

I have been lurking in this group for a while, I haven't collected in years, having sold everything in the mid 90's.

But, is someone really going to part with $15k, for a modern card? Really? What are the odds a card like this holds it value say 10 years from now.

I mean no disrespect to the person, or the card, but $15k? If given my choice I would rather put $15k into an older Mantel card or something as rare.

    thx

I don't think it's worth that much or anywhere near. I was shocked when I got the $7K I did for the pair, but I certainly wasn't complaining!!

Many collectors have a lot of disposable income for the hobby. They don't all only collect [insert any subgroup here].

It's all relative. Collect what makes you happy.
