I just sold my 1990 Topps Tiffany Frank Thomas #414 PSA 10 from my perisonal collection for $350 a record high on Ebay to the best of my knowledge. As for the 1997 atomic refractors I know I need all of them in PSA 10's so sub. away.

I consider myself to be a notch above a casual collector. I browse eBay when I get home from work, and rarely spend over $25 dollars on a single card. In fact, I just made my biggest purchase for a total of $50 for three cards. And I have never submitted my cards for grading. All raw, baby!
I don't send in very many cards to be graded. I have sent cards in to BGS three times, each time with 6 card orders. But I mostly buy graded cards. I'll never be a big submitter, probably because I don't do un-opened box rips, set registery, or sell cards.
It really depends for me on what I have possibly available for grading, what are my goals with the material (personal collection or resale), the cost of the submission, and turn around times. With that said, I think the biggest I sent in was about 100 or so cards. Normally I seem to hit somewhere in the 40 card range. For me, however, I have not seen a special recently that fits my comfort level for what I am submitting. Its not like I have a pile of raw 52 Mantles lying around that are money makes in any grade; for the most part it is "newer" material (late 60s to early 80s) where I need to hit 9s and/or 10s to make it worthwhile. So I guess what I am saying is tempt me PSA with a submission rate that is so low I can't refuse it!
Just sent in my largest at 140. My fifth sub. Each has increased by 30% If I don't hit 80% of my expected grades it may be my last for a while unless some high value raw cards come my way.
My regular size 45 day subs usually range from 100 to 450 cards per submission. I also usually have tallboy size cards that are usually around 25-50 cards and under $500 subs that range from 10-25 cards bundled in the same package.
Ok, I have a related question. How big does a sub have to be for PSA to be open to a discount. I've been stockpiling waiting for a $4.50 or even a $5 special... if I get 500 or say 1000 cards to sub would they give me a deal? For anyone that's done this, what numbers have led to a discount?

If I had 500 cards to submit, I would certainly call and ask about a discount. It never hurts to ask!

I'd say that's on the higher side for casual collectors. Also depends what kind of results ya get
C'mon... casual collectors spend $3,000-$4,000 in submission fees EVERY month!

The nightly special I do at home is about 8 thought.
