I generally prefer dark richer looking toning, the really bright wild toning usually doesn't do much for me.

But sometimes a brighter one begs me to buy it.

My thoughts were "natural and attractive", but the above line works fine. (and I'm still not sure when I see it, but most of the time I'm pretty sure)

I love all toning,but the one I really enjoy are the "bullseye" ones.The bullseye toning is not only a true eye catcher but the more centered bullseye coins are the really rare ones.To be centered with all the beautiful colors is like a work of art,a portrait,framed in plastic!

I prefer unquestionably natural looking toning, and see precious little of it. IMO, nearly every common date obverse rainbow toned Morgan is questionable in appearance, even those in holders and even ones most people ooh and ahh over. It just stretches credibility that so many can have bands of color crossing her face.

In general I like these. The Peace Dollar has just a touch of rim toning which to me is quite natural but not overstated. The Barber half is one of my favorites. It has strong rim toning but incredible underlying luster.

I have so many coins, Buffs, with color, it's a hard question to answer. If the coin has attractive toning I like it. There's so many different colors that appeal to me it's a tough call.....CHD

I like a wide variety of toning, providing that it gives the coin positive eye appeal.

Some of the coins that are my favorite are Cameo proof and SMS coins which have developed rim toning (single color or multi color) that progresses from the rims inward towards the central devices with the toning being heavier at the rims and lighter as it progresses inward. This type of toning, laid over mirrored proof fields, provides a nice frame the frosted central devices of the coin.

Having this type of coin displayed under optimal lighting that accentuates the contrast between the frosted devices and the mirrored, toned fields results in a coin that grabs your attention.
