Highlights from latest submission

Hey guys,

Just got my latest sub in the mail today. I always enjoy seeing what everybody else gets on their subs, so I thought I'd share some of the highlights:

'56 Williams from my dad's cards he had as a kid.

Another star for my '57 set I'm slowly working on.

Not a huge name as far as HOF'ers go, but cool to get in a 9.

Very happy with this one. Will fit great in my set.

Another nice one for a set I'm working on.

Cool oddball Reggie rookie.

One of my favorite players growing up.

Another one for a set I'm working on.

Nice card. Second 9 I've scored on this one.

Two cards for my decidedly Cincinnati Reds-slanted collection:

This is all stuff for my personal collection, so nothing's for sale. Anybody have any insight on the value for the Andersen Reggie?

Take care,

Todd

that Andersen '69 Reggie is also classified as a Jack-In-The-Box issue.

a PSA 6 example sold for $325 last June and can be found in VCP pricing as a '69 Jack-In-The-Box card.

good luck with that one, cool card. image

Why didn't the 1957 Duke Snider get an OC? Did you request NQ?

Duke looks like a straight 7..

miwlvrn, what do you think it should have graded?
  • miwlvrnmiwlvrn Posts: 4,266 ✭✭✭✭✭
Hard to say how that one should have graded, but I only ask because I have several from the 1957 set that look like they are about the same centering t/b & l/r as the Snider in the scan that got OC's on them from PSA. I cracked a few of them and sent them to SGC, and got them back w/o qualifier but with between a half and full grade down. The ones I have can't be much off the Snider, which is why I am surprised. Looking at all the graded cards I have, I wonder if there might be a variance in centering tolerance when grading based on year of issue sometimes. (For example, I sent in some 1967 OPC baseball that came back NQ but I am suspicious some of them might have been considered OC if they were from a different set)

Comparing the Snider to other 1957's I've had graded, it seems like if the card has that amount of off-centering in either one direction, it comes back NQ for me, but if it has that much in both directions on the same card, then I get an OC. This would be true if the back side is similar to the front in centering. I'm going to assume based on the grade that this Duke Snider card probably has just about perfect centering on back to maybe counterbalance the front?
  • Regarding the '57 Snider... I asked for no qualifiers on this sub. Most of the stuff I sent in is for sets in my personal collection. I like real grades for my stuff.

Makes sense. I'd take a 7 NQ over an 8 OC any day if you're lucky enough that it would only be 1 grade or less below what it would otherwise get with a Q. Thanks for sharing!
