Interesting and a little unexpected.

I sold some catalytic converters on Saturday and prices were up for the first time in months. They tend to lag platinum and palladium and not react to 40 or 50$ price swings in spot. It takes a real trend to move them up $20 each .

I should have taken a picture of the truckload the guy had when I was there for the metal porn thread. image He probably had two thousand of them ready to send off to the refiner .

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
  • An indication of growing automotive demand perhaps? Last year was big for US auto market.

Or does it reflect speculation that China will need Pt cats on a large scale and soon if they are to continue to breathe? Pollution in cities rivals that of 19'th Century London.
    ---
Or are we returning to the long existing situation where Pt was historically (modern history) more expensive than Au? If that's the case, will gold hold its price or does it have to yield some ground? If so, how much? And for how long?

So let's take the easy way out and all buy Rhodium! It's cheap relative to the others just at the moment.

    Or is it?

Drat. All I've got is questions.
