2014 Update - Another one of my FUN Jeffersons!

BigDowgieBigDowgie Posts: 1,749 ✭✭✭✭
Not a ton of action on the Jefferson Nickel front, which is pretty typical for the FUN Show. It's just great hooking up with a few other enthusiasts and go on the hunt. I somehow always come up with a few and this one has been on the list for a long time.

1938-D DDO-001 (CONECA lists this one as only seen an AU example) This one ROCKS! Interesting die scratch as another marker for this variety! This one will go into the "All Variety" Set once graded.

I like the look. Great pick up. I have yet to find a DDO or DDR Jefferson....and I've looked at a bunch.

    Grandam,

I'm thinking MS65, maybe MS66? Nice strike and toning. Just shy of full stepper!

I was thinking MS66 but couldn't tell about the steps from your photo.

James Wiles saw the pictures and would like to see it to take for more detailed pictures! Pretty cool, eh!

That's very nice, both the coin and the hub doubling. What did Wiles list it as, it appears to be a class II, unless there is some rotational spread on other devices I am not detecting.

jcuve - Wiles returned his attribution as: DDO-001, 1-O-V-CW, stage A, EDS. To be honest, I'm going to have touch up on the "V" and "CW" definitions. While I collect varieties, I have not put all the terminology into this failing memory card I carry around between my ears.

WoodenJefferson - Did you post once before on this particular DDO?

I have a pretty cool update from the 2014 FUN Show this year on this 1938-D DDO-001 I found last year.

Interesting die scratches that exist on both coins! Now I have to find DDO-002 to see what is going on with that one!

Very interesting that they both have die scratches in the same area. One of the 38 DDO coins has a very similar die scratch in the same area. Nice pick up, congrats!
