Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

I think Laura nailed this show just right

I normally like to cruise down the aisles to see what ALL the dealers were offering. This is easy to do when shows are moderately slow. NOT this time! This FUN show is definitely 30% smaller in size than in the heyday of the 1999-2005 era. Any other observations.

I did not even get to see My favorite guys like Todd and Charmy, Laura and George. This is in spite of the easist to navigate wide aisles in the entire hobby.

Doug Winter? I did not even get near him!!! I so much wanted to say hello to Jenna Van Halen since she moved over to Doug from Bowers and Merena, hmmmmm, Stacks Bowers.

Holy mackeral. on Thursday morning, I went down aisle 1100 and 1200 and bam bam boom, I was buying and selling left and right plus sitting down with wondercoin, Pat Vetter plus viewing and winning just a few Heritage auctions, My box was filling up fast with new coins, yet I still had plenty of money left to buy more.

I did notice that dealers and collectors came to transact not just to kick tires. Dealers seem to have an acceptable to a very busy show.

One of thehighlights of the entire show was finally meeting wondercoin (Mitch Spivack), face to face. He and I have had consummated well over hundreds of thousands of dollars in business with each other over the last decade yet never had met in person.

He is fabulous. He has among the best eyes in the business! I had a grading session with him for well over two hours on Friday on modern 2012 San Francisco business strike quarters after the PCGS luncheon and geez, he has the sharpest eyes in the business even without using any glass.

Interesting, we both like the echenbacher 5x glass which I swear to as the best viewing glass around.

I also met Mitch's daughter, Lauren and she is a delightful young lady.
She is learning fast from her Dad and I predict, could be the first woman to be a full full time grader for PCGS.

It was overall, a great show for me but two days was simply not enough for me!!!

Thank you Oreville for those really nice comments.

My daughter and I GREATLY enjoyed meeting you and Bob F. as well. A more passionate collector we have NEVER seen than when we met you. I am glad you could also spend some private time with Lauren ... first introducing her to the "sample slab game" at the show and then sharing with her some sage advice about coin collectors and coin collecting in general (like your analogy to women shopping for dresses and the dresses always looking better on the other woman, that Lauren told me about last night).

I agree with you that Lauren would be a great professional grader (but I support whatever road she takes ... the psychology road to helping young people with eating disorders or the coin grading road). One thing you saw though in that intense 2 hour grading "seminar" Friday was that the range of grades for a modern coin grader is basically MS60 through MS70. Lauren has spent nearly her entire lifetime as a modern grader working towards perfecting her skills at these grade points with coins dated 1965-date. Of course, there are (60) more grades she would also need to master (and a lot of coins dated before 1965!) before properly calling herself a "professional" classic and modern coin grader. But, at (22) she is well on her way ... I agree. Check out her complete bio (as well as Justin's) on our wondercoins.com website.

Anyway, we look forward to seeing you at more shows in the years to come ... you should fly out to a Long Beach show so we could show you around S. CAL for a day or two.

Nice to see she used the same "Black Friday" analogy that I put near the top of my show report a couple of days ago. Maybe she does read these forums? image
