My final newp from NYINC 2013: an Anglo-Saxon penny

Harold I Harefoot

I'm posting this from my iPhone from my hotel room, so someone please help and upload the coin's image.

For some reason, this coins from this reign almost always come poorly struck. This piece is the opposite. The surfaces look lustrous under a glass, and with nice toning. I disagree with the seller's assessed grade.

I'm very fortunate that the show is winding down for me, since I'm making Greece, Italy, Spain and Ireland look good.

Very neat theme and true scarcity. The CNG write up is very educating.

    Thanks, guys.

I want to point out that 26 years after the passing of Harold I, Harold II Godwinson (of Wessex) died at Hastings and William I, a Norman, became king of England.

Eadgar, of Wessex, became king of all England in 959. The Anglo-Saxon (and, briefly, Anglo-Saxon-Danish) Kingdom of England only existed for 107 years before passing to the Normans, thus laying the second seed for the first Hundred Years War.

Does anyone know what was the first seed to the first Hundred Years War?

Undoubtedly the first medieval English coin posted here that I really like! Congrats EVP!

So, this is supposed to be only a gVF? I'm a complete novice to these and frankly, most examples posted, usually AG-G if not less, tend to appall me.
