Just tripled the size of my 1952 Topps collection

I've been collecting cards on and off for 4 decades. Prior to yesterday, the only 1952 Topps card I had was a beater Duke Snider (still one of the favorite cards in my collection as I got it a show in the late '70's for a dollar). Bought these two on eBay and they just arrived.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I do have some PSA 5's (other years) that don't look nearly as nice as these. I'm a big fan of lower grade cards because you can get bargains. Picked up both of these for $77 plus shipping.

You won those from me Daniel. I had a BUNCH of 1952 Topps that I recently submitted for grading. I thought they looked really nice for the grades, some of them as much as two grades undergraded! If I thought they were really undergraded, I would describe them in the auction as undergraded, and make mention of the really nice eye appeal. Then I would let my scans do the talking. On those cards, a well scanned card would do more pricewise than the grade on the label. Anyway, glad you liked the cards!

There is a fairly recent thread here somewhere where the folks on the board "built" this set via everyone posting each card in order
    Topps Baseball-1948, 1951 to 2017
    Bowman Baseball -1948-1955
    Fleer Baseball-1923, 1959-2007

Bobby - Well it's a small collectors universe! Thanks for the speedy and well protected shipping. The cards will have a permanent home in the Baltimore area.

nice cards, having been born in 1952 I've always flirted with the idea to do the set but unfortunately the $$$ will never be there....even in beater condition.....

Love it when I see someone older than me (1958) on the boards! LOL

I was about 340 cards into the 1952 set with grades all over the place. 5 PSA 8s, maybe 40 PSA 7s, and the rest 6 and 5 with the Campanella, Reese, Mays-types between 2 and 4.

I have since humbled myself with the set. High grade are nice, but you can make a really nice set with Grade PSA 5/SGC 60 and below. Your 2 HOFers for under $80 are a fine example. My favorite low grade (slight wax build up on the back that Porterhouse missed) is below.

Good luck with the set. I am focused on 1971 Topps at this point but step back in every now and again. Will watch for your competing bids in 2014.
