2007-W Burnished $25.00 Gold Eagle Question

I have one of these in the box with the COA. The Red Book lists the mintage of these as a paltry 4,451 pieces, yet I saw three auctions list a mintage of over 11K. I have this tendency to miss things, but I also can read a mintage figure. However, my Red Book on hand is from 2011. Can anyone fill me in on this before I throw my customer a price on it. Much appreciated.

Greg

Redbook is way off. I've found these numbers accurate in the link below.

    Link

I think it is the lowest mintage on the burnished $25 gold ase's.

It's also listed in the pcgs link of the top 100.

    << <i>Redbook is way off.

They may have taken the number from the single sales not taking into account for the 4-coin set. Just a guess.

That is the case. Casman's link is pretty close, my data varies slightly for some of those coins, but the numbers in that chart are good enough for mintage comparisons. The 2007-W is the Key for 1/2 oz AGEs.

Where do you find the top 100 list?

Go to pcgs.com, it's at the top.

Link for all AGE mintages, and it agrees with the 11,455

Mintage of the individual coins included in any multi-coin sets should be included with total mintage for the coin as is done in the above chart.

They really need to show the 2006-W 1 oz Reverse Proof AGE in that chart. It's a very significant coin.

Good catch! they do however include the mintage in the footnote for 2006 with the 20th Anniversary gold set but don't mention the Rev. Proof that was included with the set: "2006 – The 20th Anniversary Gold Eagle Set included the one ounce proof Gold Eagle and one ounce uncirculated Gold Eagle. A total of 9,996 sets were sold."

Wonder why they specifically omitted mention of the Rev. Proof.
