Why are 1971 Topps Baseball so hard to find in NM?

I have been a collector of sportscards for almost 40 years. My favorite set is the 1971 Topps Baseball, but I find it so hard to find the cards in NM or better condition. Recently I purchased a large lot of raw 1971's. Since my eyesight is not what it used to be, I decided to enlist the help of my grandson to help me locate any cards that might be worth grading.
Ironically, it only took him about 30 seconds to discover why it's so hard to find NM or better cards.
I could go into great detail about his findings, but rather than post a long article I simply have decided to upload some pics and video later tonight.
In the meantime, why do you think they are so hard to find in NM or better shape?

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
<< <i>I agree with several of the comments listed, but my grandson really thinks he discovered another reason that I never even considerered before. >>
And that would be???
