This coin came in my store and while I was able to easily identify it, I'm puzzled by the striking of the word/name Cervano twice on the reverse of the coin.
Does anyone know what this represents and does it add/detract from the value of the coin ?">Obverse">Reverse
Privately added stampings. I know there is interest in such items on US coins, altho the ones with value seem to be related to those which can be tied down to specific issuers/events. Cervano is a small town in northern Italy on Lake Garda. I don' t think it was ever part of the Papal States, so doubt the coin ever circulated in the area. Maybe promotional or advertising of some sort. But these don't look familiar to me so IMHO, I'd think it would detract from the value of the coin which is fairly modest. Still an interesting wazzit.
Always interested in St Louis MO & IL metro area and Evansville IN national bank notes and Vatican/papal states coins and medals!
