Paypal -- Excluding Ebay

Is it just as safe to send an invoice for payment and ship via Paypal without an Ebay auction.

Doesn't Paypal's protection policy change?

Is there any risk that is different than if Ebay was involved ?


Also, I have been given a few options for Trade -- people not on CU boards (but live far away) -- is there any "safe" way to trade items (who sends first etc...)

    Seems like I remember a few years ago where a third party would act as a go-between, holding payment until he received the goods. I don't remember what he was called or the price.

    That would be a good idea if the fee wasn't too high
