Wow... That Cromy Scott Hall didn't last long. Nice sale. Could be a good buy too because like I've said they are difficult find to begin with and nearly impossible to find in mint condition.

So which card would you guys consider his rookie? I would pick the 1995 WCW one since it was pack issued in the US. I still have not submitted my 3 for grading as of yet. Looks like I may need to get on that. The other cards here are cool and rare I am sure but I don't know if I feel they should be called a rookie card or not. Especially when they are from another country or were issued in a magazine. Just trying to get others thoughts on this not trying to ruffle any feathers.

That's a really good question. I really don't think you can use the beckett definition of a rookie cards for sports outside of the big 4. These really just boil down to personal preference. Im having a tough time myself deciding which card I want for my personal collection. You could make an argument for any of the 3. I'm debating between the Cromy and the 1993 card though.

I personally like the 1993 Magazine card which I sold a 9 for $600 and a 5 for $150. The card despite it's perforations has all the qualities of a nice card (Tiger Woods SI for Kids anyone?). The Cromy is a game card sort of like the Question of Sport from the UK. It is from 1991 and I like the image of Austin on it, but the back is generic and the numbering is a bit odd. I just sold the 1995 Main Event Austin in a PSA 9 for $30. It is rather plentiful and with no borders should be pretty easy to get a high grade on. There are many great cards from the UK and the magazine card is in English which helps a bit over the Cromy as well. I like the 1993 card but to each their own.

I’m surprised that the 1997 Cardinal WWF doesn’t get more attention from collectors.
Is this Austin’s 1st card under his “Stone Cold” character name?

With the values of The Rock card exploding from this set, I wonder if this Austin card has a chance to rise significantly in value in the near future too?

That Austin sold for over 2k despite the fact he has a 1991 Cromy, 1993 WCW magazine card and then 1995 WCW Main Event card. When you consider that is a 1997 card, I think it is already has been noticed.

Yes, maybe I phrased it poorly.
The value on the 97 Cardinal WWF is sky high for high grade copies, but it’s still a relatively inexpensive card in raw condition.

I wonder if some consider this a true “Stone Cold” rookie card, even though it’s definitely not a Steve Austin rookie due to previous WCW issues?

    If that makes sense, LOL
