I don't have a VCP sub, but user Kingbeeswax popped a 10 and sold it for around $1200 within the last year I believe. I think it's a POP 2 (?) and he's popped both.

How much do the factory sets typically go for?
  • kingbeeswaxkingbeeswax Posts: 1,423 ✭✭✭
Oh btw I sold the 1st one privately for $1130(I think) and purchased it back and then sold again. I have about 10 going to PSA. Sets go for maybe 30-40 shipped but there are tons of problems with them.

Just to add to king's post, the 'factory' sets are actually tightly wrapped in cellophane and in a baseball board game box. I do not recall if they are packed securely or are loose in the box. If I recall correctly, the number of sets made was rumored to be 5000. Many, many, many of the sets have awful centering and or a nasty tilt. Borders chip very easily and corner damage is common as well--straight out of the cellophane. Bo is the big key rookie, but there is also a Barry Larkin rookie and numerous HOFers.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

Looking for Al Hrabosky and any OPC Dave Campbells (the ESPN guy)

I think the sets print run was 100,000. The wrapping doesn't hurt the cards too bad cept for the top few mostly and Bo is always close to the back card so has a chance of getting corner damage. The 2 cello packs move around in the box which is the problem because they hit the plastic game pieces and cause dings on the edges. I really want a Mattingly PSA 10. There is a Brett PSA 10 on ebay which I have no clue why no one has snatched up already. That's a pretty hard one get and won't be many more if you need it for a registry set. I picked up a Jim Rice 10 last week for $44.

Yes, I landed a 10. The biggest problem I've seen aside from centering is the chipping on the green borders.

I hit a Ryan and Ripken in a 9, 2 Bo 9's and a 6. The Bo and Ryan 9s have been sold.

    Thanks,

Congrats on the PSA 10 Bo!!!

I just subbed a stack of these too. The Bo is nice but probably a 9. I am looking for a Larkin psa 10. Tough cards for sure.
    Registry Sets:
    T222's PSA 1 or better

Larkin is really tough! I want one too. I sold the two 9's I had but will probably keep one if I get again. Canseco is a tough card and I don't think I had one nice enough to sub yet
  • That is a very nice card to have, especially if you dont have one, i would love a chance to buy it if you are interested in selling

I'm looking for a Sandberg in 10 if anyone ever pops one.
  • kingbeeswaxkingbeeswax Posts: 1,423 ✭✭✭
I think I have 2 Sandbergs at PSA now, but it's a super tough card. I always look out for that one to sub.
  • ldfergldferg Posts: 6,744 ✭✭✭
I have yet to see a good centered Sandberg. I've looked thru the sets I have and nothing looks submittable due to centering.

    KBW,
Are you noticing the same thing?

    Thanks,

    David (LD_Ferg)

  • I subbed a nice Ryan last week. Hoping for a 10, but likely a 9.
  • kingbeeswaxkingbeeswax Posts: 1,423 ✭✭✭
Yes, centering is always bad on the Sandberg. And the rare case that you get a decent centered one it has some other problem. I am on the hunt for a Canseco worth grading. I only have a few more sets to open and then i'm all out of these image

Agreed on Canseco. That card is as bad as Sandberg on the centering.

    Thanks,
