Need help - what would this 1956 Mantle Grade?

I'm trying to come up with a fair price for a 1956 white back Mantle I have the opportunity to pick up.

From what I can tell, the front centering is 33/66 T/B and 70/30 L/R while the back is 20/80 T/B and 35/65 L/R.

Here are the scans:

Nice card...I say somewhere between what a 4 and a 5 sell for.

Glad I asked, I was thinking 5-6, but I don't submit much from this era.

You guys saved me a couple hundred dollars.

Not a 6. I wouldnt pay over 5 money for it. I sold my 4 last year for $475 just to give you an idea.

<< <i> How did we save you a couple of hundred dollars. The card is still worth slabbing even in a 1 grade. Unless you plan on selling it raw as a higher grade??? >>

I was going to make an offer half way between PSA 5 and 6 price for it. The seller won't take less which is fine. Now, I can just pick up a nice PSA 5 off the bay and pocket the difference.

this has been my experience as well. Mantle's get a ton more scrutiny than a regular issue from the same set.

Most sellers of raw Mantles value them higher than what they truly are. Kinda like every person that walks into Rick Harrison's pawn shop in Vegas thinks that their item is worth the moon. You are better off buying that kind of card already graded.

I SO wish this were true. But having examined thousands of PSA Mantles, I can't come close to concurring. What you guys are implying is that the Mantles out there are higher for the grade than other players of the same issue. Nothing could be further from the actual truth. However, part of the reason for that may be the fact that the best in class examples are in strong hands and don't come available often. But I'm not sure how you guys would have seen so many of them to make that kind of a judgement. >>

Last, unnecessary sentence aside, one of the reasons I think that when you view "1,000s" of Mantles that seem over-graded, is because Mantle's are almost always worth cracking and resubbing borderline cards. So over time, they end up being in the highest possible holder. I can only speak for subs I've seen on here and sent in myself. It usually seems Mantles don't do as well as similarly conditioned cards in the same sub.

It was unnecessary because it was dickish for no real reason.

    To the OP ... I would also say it's between a 4 and a 5. I'd offer around $500.00 - $550.00.
