1986 Topps Football Young and others-Question

I have been going through a lot of singles of older football, including a ton of 1986 Football. I know a lot of the PSA 10's are super rare in this set, and the Young in particular is a beast.

To anyone that has a lot of experience with this set, what are the predominant issues with the Young and/or the rest of the singles? I am finding that it's a difficult set to try to grade with the naked eye. Something about that green and white border makes it touch to find flaws. But I do see a lot of printing flaws and fish eyes and what not along the borders...

  • I dont have experience grading, but I have a few cards I am considering grading. I find the angled stripes in the background hard to tell L/R centering.

This is a tough set. Even PSA 9's for Jerry Rice and Steve Young are hard to come by. Forget about 10's. You will pay over 3K for PSA 10 examples of Rice and Young.
The one problem I have seen with these cards, aside from centering, is spider vien creases.

Yes as I am closely looking at the surfaces of the cards I'm seeing a lot of issues there. Creases, holes, blots, etc. Seems they had some serious Quality Control issues with the '86 stuff.

As of today, there have been over 4,233 Youngs graded with only 66 PSA 9's and 3 10's, which is rather incredible for a "modern day" card
