Since when does PCGS recognize the 1813 O.109a as a true "Single Leaf"?!

Last I checked, they only recognized this as the "Overton 109a", not denoting that it's also a "Single Leaf" variety. Looks like that's changed - link to CF

Or has it always been this way and I'm just trippin'?

If this is a recent change, does this mean it might soon be a requirement in the "Complete Variety Set" of CBHs in the Set Registry?

I haven't paid attention to it and can't say if this is something new. The only single leaf varieties of interest to me are 1814 and 1817.

The 109a is a minor-minor variety with a six digit PCGS number. I don't see it ever becoming part of the complete variety set. But the set has others I wish weren't there. Like the 1817/4, and 1839 small letters, which are virtually unobtainable. Sort of sucks to have zero chance of completing the set.

Yeah, I know what you mean - knowing you'll always have those two holes is pretty depressing. image

But I wouldn't mind seeing the 1813 "Single Leaf" in the Registry's "Complete Variety Set". Unlike the 1817/4 and 1839 Sm Letters, this variety is actually affordable! And I just think the trainwreck dies that struck the 109a would make it a neat coin to add to the set. image

I have this beautiful PCGS 50 CAC 1813 O-109a Single Leaf and I will now consider sending it to PCGS for the $24 Variety Attribution. Thank you for bringing this to my attention that PCGS has decided to now include this new variety shown in the latest Overton-Parsley Capped Bust Half Dollar book. This 1813 missing leaf is very similar to the 1817 Single Leaf which has been accepted for decades.

Sure thing! image I'm sure the change went unnoticed to most. I just happened upon it while checking the pop on other 1813 d.m.

Ohh, and your 109a is just lovely! image

The only other 1813 Single Leaf that I have seen is an XF Dick Osburn had in stock a few years ago.

Thanks for the nice compliment on my coin.
