I cherrypicked quite a few this year, but this one is my favorite because:
1. The seller's photos we so dark that I didn't know it was a Micro-S until I received it. 2. I thought it was undergraded, so I sent it in for another look and it came back VF35.

you know based on your post i won't say the one that was my favorite, but will state my favorite type: "accidental cherrypicks" lol .

And to think, one of Tom's 2 lost/stolen coins was nicer than that '53, and your coin is a nice one, Illini!. Awesome picks! Tip o' the cap to you!
Just a question, on the '52 'Bird....just in front of George's profile, from the eyes to the bridge of the nose....is that just toning, or.....? It's faint, and I didn't see it at first. Do you think that held it to a 67, because the coin, besides a couple minor, insignificant toning spots on the obverse rim, looks great, and possibly better than a 67.
This was my pick of the year, purchased back in February for $35. Currently at our host waiting for their opinion:
I also picked this one in March off eBay for a little over melt:
...and his reverse doubled die cousin in October, also for a shade over melt (seller's pic):
Those stand out among some other stuff, most of which I've been slack about photographing.

Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.

The 1953 grade was limited by the rust-like toning spots on the obverse that just didn't come off when I dipped it. It was really hazy when I picked it. If not for those spots it would be a PR67 I think as well. I didn't want to overdip it in trying to get those off, so I left it alone and was happy with the PR65.
On the 1952, the mark you see in front of the profile was what appeared to be a slight planchet defect (minor depression) that slightly impaired the mirrors in that spot. They were not scratches or toning and you could really only see it from the right (or wrong?) angle.

Ok... but this wasn't an easy choice, mind you!

<< <i>Totally forgot about this baby! I had this coin for a few years. I took a closer look at it, and lo and behold....a 1950 S/S FS-501!

That is a beautiful FS-501. I thought it was at least an MS-66
