1979 vending case scans

So I was the winner of the 1979 vending case that ended recently. I finally was able to go through the last box just last week. I new what I aas getting into buying this case. I expected alot of off centered cards and corner dings coming from vending. I bought this case for the joy of opening up an old (in my opinion) vending case. If I can pull low low pop 10's and recoup some money well that was ok with me. I pulled all the cards I thought would grade 9 or higher. I would estimate I ended up pulling about 600 cards. Unfortunately not many of these are star cards. Most of the star cards were off centered. I only pulled 12 Smith rookies and of course every one was off center. While I cannot scan all the cards I thought this would give some eye candy.

Cheers!
Mike

WOW, that is massive!! I would have bought a couple of unopened boxes from you if you needed to recoup some of your capital..image

How do the Ryans look? Winfield and Fingers are really tough, too.

Good luck with the grades! Personally, I would have kept the case sealed as its value was sure to rise considering how scarce
and how rare sealed cases from the 70s are, but going through the cards must have been a blast!

    Hiya Mike

    Wow - that's a load of cards!

I see some nice Murrays - you mentioned no stars worth grading? A few of the Murrays look pretty good. What did the Ryans look like?

Sorry to see all the Ozzie's are OC - tough break.

Good luck with your sub and Happy New Year.

  • That is a LOT of work, and a LOT of fun.

    Glad you enjoyed it.

Regarding the stars I should have clarified. The only stars worth grading were some Murrays, Carews, Schmidt, and a couple of Palmers. All of the other stars were to far off center or had corner dings. All of the Ryans were off centered top to bottom 30/70 or worse image

I like the Guidry/Swan leaders card. That is a toughie. You have some strong examples.

How are the Stargell's and Marc Hill's?

I would have enjoyed doing this....and like Tim said, taken one off your hands. image

Glad to see some results from this purchase. Congratulations!

    Thanks,

A couple of the Murray look like potential 10s to me if corners are sharp and surfaces clean...how much does a PSA 10 Murray go for?

Man that must have been fun! Sure wish I had the funds for that. Unfortunately, I don't even have the funds to open one vending box. image

Best of luck with the ones you send in for grading. That had to be a very fun time opening that case!
