Acceptable alternative to 1652 NE coinage?

If you don't have the $200,000+ to spare. I came across these the other day and I was struck (huh huh) by how many similarities they have with the Massachusetts NE coinage of 1652. Are they entirely different animals, or can you appreciate the similarities?
