ATB pucks for 2013

Just looked at the Mint's product schedule for 2013 - seem they listed the pucks @ $244.95.
Good job Mint, series isn't selling, price of silver is WAY down - jacking up the price to bound to increase sales!

Coin Update reports ATB 5 oz revenue in this summary of US Mint performance dated 12/27/12, US Mint Bullion Revenue Falls 29%, American Silver Eagle Generates Loss of $4.4 Million, fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2012.

"America the Beautiful 5 oz. Silver Bullion Coins generated a loss of $0.5 million on sales of $14.3 million. After demand for the coins exceeded production quantities for the 2010 inaugural year, the US Mint significantly increased production for the 2011 releases. The first two designs for this year sold out, however orders for the final three designs received substantially fewer orders. During the 2012 fiscal year, the US Mint recorded a one time expense to write down approximately 842,000 ounces worth of inventory which were deemed "unsellable." Production quantities were scaled back for the 2012 releases.

In the previous fiscal year, the ATB Silver Bullion Coins had generated net income of $3.0 million on revenue of $110.0 million."

Holy Cow, 842,000 oz divided by five ozs equals 168,400 pucks unsold, which are probably the increased production referred to in 2011.

The 2013 designs will not help the sale of these either...image

Based on all the negativity, sounds like there may be some very small mintages.image

Doesn't bother me. For the few designs I like, the bullion versions (at a modest premium to melt) work just fine.

The smaller the better IMO, since I have them all.
I'll keep buying 'em as long as they keep minting 'em!

Not interested either. The 2013 Ft McHenry is a horrible design. I wanted so much to buy this coin. Shame they could not make it look any way near the Star Spangled Commemoratives that sold this year. Just Horrible. Wont be buying. Did not buy any of the 69 DMPLs this year either. I may scrape this series completely except for the PCGS DCAM 70 Silver Quarters. Have the 2010-2012s so far.

Same here. They are the largest and heaviest coins ever minted by the US and the theme of America the Beautiful lends itself to some very attractive and interesting coins.

Sales of these coins will have to fall well under 10,000 before I am interested.

With a release price that high, I'm almost sure it's going to be low mintage year. They might even discontinue the series as a result.

It may not happen but you never know, some of the Chinese 5 ounce silver went down to 3000 mintage. I could see these falling under 8000 for one of the last coins released on a yearly schedule.

Some of the 2012 ATBs, both bullion and numismatic, turned out to be low mintage and are now priced accordingly.

It's not likely that the same will be true for 2013's.
