I was under bidder on same exact card twice for same exact amount!

A few weeks back I bid on a Topps Five Star duel relic card of Jackie Robinson/Sandy Koufax #9/10. I bid with 4 seconds to go and was the under bidder at $142.42.
The sale must have fallen through because the seller had it up again, and for the second time, I was the under bidder at $142.42. Both auctions ended with the winning bid of $144.92 to different winners.
Guess I needed to bid more!

<< <i>I would be suspicious if it is listed a third time. ...and would bid considerably less. >>
Especially if you get a "second chance" offer...

No need to worry -- after all, ebay bidding is transparent.

<< <i>This is probably just a standard case of bidding the same thing twice and being outbid by two different buyers; both obviously with the same incremental bid as set by eBay. Who knows what the individual buyer's maximum bids were? They could have been much higher. >>
Agreed. It is never the winning bidder who determines the final price of a card - it is ALWAYS the underbidder who determines the final auction price. If you wanted a different outcome, you should have changed YOUR bid. No telling how much the winning bidders bid. I don't know why the winning bidder never paid the first time - could be holidays, maybe the card went for more than what HE thought the card should have sold for. If you really wanted the card, then you should have adjusted your snipe to a higher level. I guess just wait for the next one to roll around, whenever that will be.
