What do you guys think of this (CSA) 1957 Topps Mantle

Ended on ebay last night - don't think I've seen a CSA card fill the holder so well, and I know I haven't seen another '57 Centered This Nicely.

I was an underbidder but didn't have the stomach to bid like it could be a PSA 8...

Nice looking card... if real, looks like a 9 to me.

I think I need new glasses. I thought I saw Restoration 9 instead of Registration 9! image

The card looks kinda wavy on the top edge from this view:

From the way the pictures are cropped....you cant tell if that case has been tampered with...I do see a lot of frost in one pic.

I could be wrong however the card appears to be diamond cut slightly. Not a 9 for sure, still a nice card.

Consider yourself fortunate. About 10 years ago, I won a CSA 8 '57 Ted Williams and a CSA 8 Frank Roby on feeBay. Cracked both and sent to SGC and then to PSA. Each came back AUTH. Even GAI said the Roby was re-colored. Has to be a reason why that MM isn't in a PSA or SGC slab. Probably had been previously subbed and rejected.

Top right corner has a strange bat hook to it. I wouldnt trust the top edge either. Best you didnt win. Also the bottom right looks off to me.

The only thing that needs to be said about that card is that there is a reason its not in a PSA/SGC holder.

I concur with much of the above - just surprised to see a (seemingly) full-sizer in that slab. Pretty card, probably too pretty. Not sure about that batwing -- doesn't show on the back like the front.

I found myself happy to be outbid, but was smitten with the centering. Am very dubious about CSA (like everyone), but haven't had problems other than shortys. Have had a few good crossovers though, so I don't dismiss out of hand.

on the back the angle hides the top right bat wing i think. Angle of the pic. Also the bottom left but now bottom right on the back looks to bat out as well. The corner with "Yankees" on the back, seems to bat down.
And that top boarder is way smooth.

I believe the slab has been cracked and a different card inserted.
