Possible bumpage? You decide 52 Topps eye candy

I have been diligently working on a dead centered 52 topps set, although the Morgan is o/c t/b I could pass it up. Any chance of bumping either of these?

thanks in advance

edit: the close up scans show a lot more damage than my eyes can see!

I think the lower left corner on the Martin may be a hindrance. Great eye appeal though on that card. I could see the Morgan potentially getting a six. I think however crack and resubmit would present your best chances whatever you decide to do.

I think they both have potential so it's all about whether you want to take the risk of cracking them open and re-submitting. Be careful though. I cracked out four PSA 6 (old labels) 1952 Topps earlier this year that I thought for sure would be 7's. My thinking was at the worst they would come back as 6's again and I've eaten about $20+ in submission fees. I thought for sure the risk/reward was in my favor. Well, here's the result: two PSA 5's, one PSA 6, and one "altered stock". The PSA labels might be a help in your decision-making to some extent. There are collectors who feel that prior to half grades and the resulting new labels, some of the older vintage was graded a little more geneously than now. No proof on that statement, just comments I've heard in recent years so take it for what its worth.

Martin looks accurate. Stain of some sort at the top, and something going on with the surface at middle right. Doesn't look like paper loss, but something is on the card. I would leave as is.

    << <i>FAINTEST crease ever >>

I wouldn't say that. It looks pretty heavy. Does it show up on the reverse as well?

A faint wrinkle wouldn't show up, even with a decent scanner...it would be hard pressed to see......does your crease/wrinkle show up on the back....if not, then I have a recommendation for you....

Here is a card with the faintest of wrinkles...hard pressed to see it, even with a decent scan....

  • looks more like a spider crease to the naked eye, and unbelievably doesnt go through the back!

Hiya Ted - don't know about the bumpage - but they're cool cards - great set - the Martin is a beauty.

I've been collecting centered cards for years - nowhere like yourself - maybe 5 or 6 per year.

Thanx for sharing - you've got some great cards - again - as a fellow T3 collector - but then - again - at snail's pace.
