ASE's sold out

US Mint Sold Out of Silver Eagle Bullion Coins Until January 7, 2013

Authorized purchasers will be faced with a three week period during which there will be no American Silver Eagle bullion coins available to order from the United States Mint. The Mint recently informed authorized purchasers that all remaining inventories of 2012-dated Silver Eagle bullion coins had sold out and no additional coins would be struck.

Silver supplies online look low to me as well. APMEX has the fewest 100 oz bars in inventory I've ever seen. And COMEX is being drained of 17 million ounces this month, which is the largest demand I've seen.

seems to be no shortage of paper silver. image

While the demand for ASEs is good, there is no shortage - mint is only saying they will mint no more 2012s as they gear up for the new ones.
