I'm trying to get my " to do " box cleaned up but LOL you all know how that goes... In any event this piece was mixed in with some canadian tokens and I hit a wall

one side has TOKEN OF ESTEEM over a crowned shield with an N on the right and a P under it The other side has a bust right

any help as to origin and value appreciated

thanks

My first thought was that this was a Canadian token, but I did not see a match in the 8th edition of "Canadian Colonial Tokens."

Could the inscription imply that rather than having any value, this was a "token of esteem" only, thus suggesting that it might be a gaming token or counter of some kind?

It is not listed in any of my Canadian references. I believe it is British - possibly a counter s Aethelred noted. I've handled a few pieces of this issue. AU's sell for about $12. Throw yours in the poundage bucket. Sorry Ken.

Yeah I couldn't find it in the canadian books either but I was hoping maybe someone would recognize the bust or reverse shield ( lol although there's not much left )

I don't know the token. There are at least 4 on eBay under "token esteem". Maybe their descriptions will shed some light?
