Paying with PayPal gift

I am selling a card to a collector out of my state. He is paying with PayPal gift and I will send the card signature confirmation. Is there a way to protect myself from a scam? Can I be scammed when the buyer pays Paypal gift? Sorry if there are obvious answers but this will be the first time selling to someone paying PayPal gift.

Its a gift, he is not paying for a transaction or invoice
<< <i>He is the 1 that is taking the chance. If he sends you Paypal gift, he has no way to get that money back

He can still screw you through a C/C chargeback. ...but he can screw you any other way as well! Go Paypal! If you don't feel right about the deal don't do it, or ask for a Money Order from a institution you choose, I would avoid USPS Money Orders.

Go to the PO and get cash on the spot and then send the item. Doesnt get much easier than that.

I thought if you used the gift option you couldn't use a c.c.?

I thought the same
Anytime using a cc, there are fees involved. When gift payment is used, there are no fees for sender/recipient

Yup the sender of the gift payment eats the fees. Hence if the person was haggling over a few dollars in eBay fees and is willing to do a gift payment I am guessing he isn't funding it with a CC and you have zero to worry about. Now he is an idiot to pay you via gift but that is another thread.
is high enough that may be a reason to scam.

The fee's are less than regular payment too though.
