My recent Ebay selling experience - not negative!

I know Ebay gets its share of knocks from buyers and sellers at times, but for me as a first time seller I really can't complain too much. Maybe I was just lucky. I recently sold a small batch of coins to help with my daughter's college costs for studying overseas in London. Most of the coins were either duplicates or ones I felt I could part with at this time. No top pops or monsters, just collector coins. Below is a link to what I sold:
Ebay sales
I put up some decent pictures, no-hype descriptions and all were no reserve starting at 99 cents. I made money on most of the coins and at worst I broke even, even after the 9% Ebay fee and the 3% Paypal fee. Maybe beginner's luck, who knows? From what I've seen over the years, having auctions with ludicrous Buy it Nows, full retail start for very average coins, flowery descriptions, or slabbed coins with noted problems being sold as problem free is a recipe for failure and siappointment. Sure, you might lose or take some hits on some coins, but ones that you've had for awhile and bought at a halfway decent price have a good chance of doing great in a true auction. The preceding is just my opinion and observation, results may vary for others.
Oh, and the BST is great too, it was a big help in selling my first wave of coins. It will probably be awhile before I give it a go again on Ebay, but it seems like a promising avenue for future sales.

As for observartions and opinions, perhaps those would change if you sold regularly and took a couple of beatings.
Whats the story on this one?
The name is LEE!
Neat coin.

I just wanted to put one small positive story here; what happened in CT today makes our Ebay quibbles look mighty small. This hobby is a bastion of sanity in what can be a f***** up world at times.

All I can say is, your Daughter's tuition cost must be less than mine, lol
Congrats
If I recall, your 1813 and 1807 were both offered for quite bit less on the BST... definately the way to go with collector coins, air them out on the BST for awhile, give your forum friends
a crack at them, then move 'em over to ebay and they will generally find new homes. Although, I've never had the nerve to do .99c starts....I will give it a go one day
