I found out yesterday a good friend had passed away at a young age from a sudden MI. Enjoy the good stuff, forget the bad stuff, have fun with your coins, appreciate friendships, and try to look for the positive. If hope you fellow forumites all have a good weekend. Enjoy every minute of it.

It makes all the hobby complaints seem like pretty small potatoes

My heart aches!!!!!
Senseless. The actions of a few deranged maniacs forever changed the lives of countless families and may affect the liberties the rest of us enjoy.

Very sad about today's events, given that I have a 6 and 3 year old that I could not imagine losing in such a way. Totally heartbreaking!! My thoughts are with the community there.

What, exactly, do you think I'm referring to? I'm sincerely hoping that we're simply having a failure of communication here. Let me be very clear:
1) The mass shooting today in CT is deplorable and words cannot express the sorrow and anguish that the families of the victims must be going through. My heart goes out to them. Their world has forever been altered by an individual whose actions are the very definition of evil. I have a six year old in school too. The thought of someone doing that to him is repulsive and incomprehensible. Killing innocent children is the lowest form of human behavior.
2) This forum is not the proper place for a discussion of politially charged issues. Trying to take offense, where none was intended on my part, is hopfully just a misunderstanding of what I said due to the imperfect nature of written text in the forum format. When threads go sideways like this they should probably be locked or deleted.
3) I'm ALWAYS concerned about the loss of our liberties. Wars, terrorist attacks, natural disasters, and mass shootings produce many casualties. Liberty is often one of them. After Sep 11, I lost the freedom to travel across the country without unreasonable search. Eavesdropping of private communications is now legal without a court-ordered warrant in many situations. The ability for my children to attend a public school that doesn't resemble a high-security federal prison is now in jeopardy. The actions of a few mess up a normal, peaceful, civilized, live-and-let-live society for the rest of us. You're darn straight I'm concerned about MY LIBERTIES. I'm concerned about the liberty of all of us and you should be too. They were acquired only after much sacrifice and they are proving difficult to preserve in the modern world.
4) Being openly scolded in an Internet forum is always an interesting experience. I will give you the benefit of the doubt, but I stand by what I said the first time.
5) Take a deep breath, hug your kids, stand for something good, and try to have a nice weekend.

I didn't understand Errors On Coins response to your post. I think your response to it was well thought out and excellent points. I agree with you. It was probably just a misunderstanding.
I may have wrongly thought that you are against ANY reasonable gun control laws ... (some think reasonable gun control is losing liberty, ie background checks, assault rifle ban, ban large clips)
If that is the case, I apologize.

<< <i>Well, the Forums master(s) could always make a "Grievances" forum for these sorts of topics. *shrug* >>
Not a bad idea IMO.
Thanks for reminding us of what is important.
