Paypal question

I sold an item on ebay and the guy pays with paypal. He sends me an email saying paypal has the wrong address and he tells me to send to his correct address in california. His paypal address is a new york address. What do I do?

I wouldn't send to the "corrected" address. If the Paypal account has been compromised, you'll lose the card and the money that was paid for it.

If you ship to an address different from the one on paypal, you are doing so at your own risk. I wouldn't do it unless I knew the buyer.

  • ship to the address given by ebay and print using their service to be covered.

Refund the payment and tell the buyer to add the address to his Paypal account, then be sure to select that address when submitting payment again.
  • Perfect time for me to read this.....I was just going to start a thread on the same thing because I'm feeling uncomfortable as well.

Buyer is actually a board member I haven't dealt with before....Paypal address is in Canada and he wants me to send to a relative in NC to avoid shipping to Canada. I'm thinking I'll follow KBCards advice....just too many possible issues.

It really just depends on the circumstances. In the OP's case there's no reason for the information to be incorrect and it should and can be easily fixed. A reasonable person would understand and want to fix the problem. In your case, if it's a well known board member and you trust that your deal is complete with delivery to NC then go ahead and do it if you want. If you have any doubt or don't want to put your money at risk then don't deviate from PayPal's policy. Their rules and procedures are easy for buyers and sellers to understand and follow. Many of the problems you hear about are when standard procedures aren't followed.
