Whats your favorite insert set?

As some of you may know I just got back into collecting earlier this year. I collected years ago but I stopped around 1999/2000. Anyhow I have missed a lot of insert sets through the years and I was curious to see some other peoples favorites. Sport does not matter so post whatever set you like preferably with pics.

  • I grew up watching MJ & early 90s NBA. I can't remember how many packs I busted & getting excited for MJ base! Most of the inserts back then were impossible to pull. Here are some of my favorites

Didn't one of those Jambalaya cards just sell for 5 figures to an oversees buyer?
  • I'm not sure when the last one was listed. Was he from Australia?

I remember seeing one that was signed maybe about 6 months ago and it and was just insane how much it sold for. Crazy amount. Enough to buy a car or put down on a house. Yeah, that much!

Since I only collect baseball, I’m also going to go with 1991 Donruss Elite cards. I love those cards and have never pulled one - This year I’ve opened about 12-15 boxes of 1993 donruss just to say I pulled one out and still no luck. Those things are almost impossible. I give up. lol

Toss up between 1995 Leaf Slideshow, and 1999 EX century Exquisite.
  • I was big into the early 90's basketball stuff and think the 92 Stadium Club Beam Teams are still some of the sweetest looking cards around.

That MJ Die Cut BMOC is pretty sweet too.

the only insert set I ever put together was the 1995 Bowman's Best hockey, regular and refractor sets.....I still have the regular set but sold the refractor set which was at one time listed #1 on the registry.....almost had it completed in PSA 9/10...but needed the money.

I'm currently working on this one. They are pretty tough to find as they are serial #/100. I also have Favre, E.James, B.Sanders, Batch, and W.Dunn

  • Absolutely LOVE that MJ All Star. Such a tough card. I just snagged one in BGS 8.5 for super cheap. All the 92-93 Fleer inserts were great. Team Leaders has a great MJ and the Total D were also great.

Another nice insert set was the Scoring Kings from 93-94. Just a stunning design. The MJ was a self pull from a box I bought on BBCE a while back.

Here's a pic of the High Voltage I had mentioned earlier (not my card - just a fairly clean eBay scan).
