2nd time - Broken PSA case from ebay

May have to stop buying PSA graded items from ebay and only buy from shows or have them graded myself.

Twice now I have had to return 500.00 plus PSA Graded items I have purchased from ebay. Both times the items
were packed very well but after close inspection I could see cracks and breaks in the cases were the item
had been droped, also both times the cases could be seperated if pulled apart at the broken corner, not enough to
fully open the case but enough to to make me worry it could someday openfully. Also once in this condition it
voids the grade.

Anyway just wanted to mention this seems to be a problem if the case has ever been dropped it could be getting
loose and ready to split open, easy check is to try pulling the edges apart by holding the case with both thumbs on
eaither side and pulling away from each other

  • if the case is that easily opened, they could be compromised by the seller, rather then being damaged in shipping. Be careful whom you buy from online

I get cracked cases all the time.

Most are minor like a corner or something. many are from the big sellers.

If the card isn't compromized and I can still enjoy it...then I let it go.

someday I'll do a big recase sub.

I have this problem with my P.O. I'm at the point where I have to wrap every card in 24" of bubble wrap and then put it in a bubble mailer, since I've had far too many slabs cracked that were only wrapped in a foot of bubble wrap before being put in a bubble mailer.

I use the 6x9 bubble mailers and fold them in half (for up to two cards), never had one crack yet.

At what point do you realize that bubble wrap does not keep a slab from getting bent and therefore cracking? Using that much bubble wrap is way too expensive (and pretty useless) to continue. I buy 300 and 400 count card boxes at 20 cents each. One slab with the green DC handed over at the PO counter is $3.14 1st class mail. After 6 slabs it goes priority mail because of weight. 1-2 cards go in the 300 size box, at an angle with a little newspaper above and below to keep it from moving inside the box. Up to 14 or so cards fit in the 400 count box. After that you might as well just use a PO flat rate anyway, unless is it staying in your zone, then you can use an 800 count box and ship up to 28 cards or so.

Never had a broken slab in a box. You'd almost have to drive over it to crack it. Another plus is that the 300 and 400 boxes are small enough to fit in apartment size mailboxes too.

Actually I am sure the second slab I had to return was not broken in the mail, its was broken before mailing as the broken
cracked areas were on the bottom corners and look to be consistant with the case being droped. Not only that after getting
my first cracked slab I started requesting that items be mailed in a box with lots of bubble/packing and offer to cover the extra
cost, this item was sent very well packed in a box so I feel it was this way before mailing. I noticed it could be pulled apart at
the seem in the area of the broken corner and decided it was not worth the price paid with a compromised case. BIW The seller
stated he did not accept returns when I first asked but after opening a case with ebay he accepted but I had to pay shipping both
    ways.

Also after looking at the item with loop I think it may even have been replaced as I could see each corner had some issues and
did not equal its grading. Can't say for sure it was swaped but its just not something I was willing to pay a premium for in its
    compromised condition.
