Are you a victim?

joeykoinsjoeykoins Posts: 18,938 ✭✭✭✭✭
How many fall victim as to when you post a thread and you don't receive ONE reply? I think I experienced this one time, how 'bout you? I know many of us our only interested in certain topics but don't you have that bad feeling that I do? I know it's nothing personal but still.Just my 2 cents.I wouldn't blame anybody for not responding on this one!image

You know, I got on this elevator that was crowded with strangers one time. I started whistling a happy tune and rattling on about the weather. By the time we got to the fourth floor I was ranting. Nobody would say a word. When the door opened, there were these two big security guards just smiling at me.

I, too, have been victimized in just such a manner, worse, I have been last poster on some. I think we are entitled to an automatic reply from the board admin, poster's union or resident shrink whenever that happens.image

I've had a few as well.

The thing is...............you never know if folks have actually opened the thread and decided not to reply or if folks simply don't see the thread!

Some of the other forums have counters on how many times the thread was opened. Using that information, it's easy to determine of perhaps your thread is uninteresting and as such, whether or not it should be ttted.

I have found that having an interesting and descriptive thread title helps. I've even revised my title to improve the response. As an example, I think "Crusty Busty Newp" is better than "My Latest Newp."

    Here's what you do.
    Edit.
Put "Laura" in the thread title.

Then sit back and watch while your thread sticks like glue to page 1.

I think "victim" is the wrong word for this.

If you post a thread and get NO responses, how is that everyone else's fault to blame, and how are you wronged?

Maybe the thread title and/or content had something to do with the lack of responses? image

Happened to me but usually when the subject is quite narrow... example, asking about a specific minor doubled die or a clashed Ike, etc.

No,your right.I'm not blaming anyone.I just feel when I receive 0 replys,I'm a " victim' of just that silly emotion everyone (most) feels, that they are not being heard.Don't get me wrong this is truly not a big deal, just a conversation piece! Thanks.

A good friend, Dave99B, started a Thread with the title BARBER .

It's opening line was just.... No coins... Just Barbers ... Had a good laugh at
that - he had a few hits on his thread - but I couldn't help but chuckle .

If I add a Newp to an existing Thread of mine, it usually gets overlooked,
as many have already seen the Thread and have responded to it, ignoring
    the Newp.

i would disagree that one should be considered a "victim" if no one responds to thier thread, quite the opposite.
regardless of how many posts I have, I don't consider myself an "expert" at anything

Always! I just don't feel the love. Everyone ignores me, heck it's as bad as when my kids were teenagers.

Better still, if you want your thread to die, just have me post in it. Guaranteed to drop off page one and head to the gloomy depths of oblivion.
