There have been some great rookie classes but this year's is having one heck of an impact. Check out the list below with the top two being obvious. As for defense, feel free to respond with impact players.
QB
Robert Griffin III
Andrew Luck
Russell Wilson
Nick Foles (Comeback win today but I'm still not a believer)
Brandon Weeden
Ryan Tannehill
RB
Doug Martin (Bucs)
Alfred Morris (Redskins)
Trent Richardson (Browns)
David Wilson (Giants) (Looked outstanding in that last touchdown)
Vick Ballard (Colts starter due to injury, avg 4.0 per carry)
Bryce Brown (Eagles)
WR
TY Hilton
Chris Givens
Josh Gordon
Justin Blackmon
LB
Luke Kuechly (Panthers) NFL #4 Total tackles
Lavonte David (Bucs) NFL #6 Total tackles
Bobby Wagner (Seahawks) NFL #12 Total tackles
DB
Casey Hayward (5 INT, 40 Tackles)
Here is my list rating the best sets you can buy this year if you decide to buy modern and buy into this class, other opinions welcome!
1. National Treasures (Will likely release in early 2013)( Highest end for Panini, large patch cards (event worn) with on card autographs on most rookie cards, term RPA born from this set)
2. Five Star (Will likley release in early 2013 or later
) (The highest end for Topps but small jersey windows detract in comparison to National Treasures, also on card autos)
3. Topps Chrome (As noted in swankdaddy7 thread, a great break!)
4. Playoff Contenders (Historically loaded with multiple autographs per box with most sticker autos but on card autos of players that participated in the rookie premiere event held prior to the season)
5. Upper Deck Exquisite (Strictly a collegiate release, although some may feel this should be rated higher, it still lacks NFL logos, names and uniforms, still a high end set with on card autographs)

I did pre buy 2 cases and I for the most part buy new stuff.
2 autos per box, all kinds of chase cards,GU etc.
Box guarantees:
1 clear cut autograph relic card
1 rookie autograph card
1 rookie relic card
1 rookie die-cut card
Case guarantees:
1 strata signature relic rookie card
3 clear cut autograph patch rookie cards
3 rookie patch cards
