1952 Topps folks,
I have a 1952 Topps Bob Swift Number 181 listed on ebay (Ex). I'd provide a link, but ebay is blocked at work (my handle there is jgrigali) while this message board is not (go figure). Anyway, I started bidding at $9.00 and now it's bid up to $69.88 and I can't for the life of me figure it out. Anyone know why it's going for so much? I was going to contact the bidders next, but wanted to know if i was just missing something.
Thanks
John

It's a really nice card but I - too - think it's a bit high. Based on previous - recent - sales?
I have picked up 7 and centered commons for that price on occasion.
Did any of the bidders ask you any questions? Is the back of the card gray or is it cream colored?

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
If it is a grey back, you would get more $ for it by relisting it as such

This picture was from an article by Bob Lemke stating the above.

<< <i>DB---agree that front views are unreliable. I have some that look no different. But I do know folks who will take a gamble based are front views. The safe thing is to ask >>
But as soon as you ask ... they take it down! LOL

<< <i>If it is a grey back ( "Canadian"), $ 80 would be cheap. Cards 131 to 190 in the 1952 set can be found with grey backs as opposed to cream. Such cards are scarce and prized by master collectors. The fronts of most grey backs have a more muted, darker look that the cream backed cards. Some collectors of grey backs can spot them just from front views.

Hiya Al.
Forgot about that. Perhaps some "are" gambling that point - based on the appearance?
