How Many PSA Sets Do You Maintain And Upgrade?

Just trying to get a gauge on how many PSA Registry Sets people work on, have...

I am working on:
1952 Topps Baseball (just trying to finish in any grade)
1973 Topps Baseball (~40% finished in PSA 8 +)
1969 Topps Deckle Edge Baseball (Finished at 5.63, looking to update at the right price)
1975 TCMA All-Time New York Yankees (Finished at 7.63, looking to update)
1978-79 Topps Basketball (~40% finished at PSA 9+)

Comments

  • I just started building a 1961-62 Fleer Basketball set. I wanted a solid set with less than 100 cards in PSA 7 or better. I noticed that this set is hard to find centered.

Either not enough or too many.

I probably have 40 to 50 that I actively run ebay searches for. Most of the rest are either just when I happen to notice good buys as a result of other searches (especially looking at seller's other listings) or get a Player Set card that happens to be in that set.

I have roughly 20 sets I'm working on, but most are subsets of another. In reality, it's really only 6 or 7. Postwar HOF RC quickly turns in to player rookie card sets as there are often more than one rookie and this will really start to explode in the next yen years and then become close to impossible within 20 years or so. How many sets came out boasting a Pujols rookie for example? The T206 has the back set, the portrait set, the HOFers set, etc. There are 5 different sets associated with Cal Ripken alone. It's enough to make a relatively small focus explode in to multiple sets. The good thing is most cards work on multiple sets, so you feel like you are accomplishing more when it's a larger set.
    I collect Cal Ripken cards, T206, E95, E210, R319.

I like going after the wrestling sets and end at the all stars in 1983.....all the newer stuff is not of interest to me. A small scarce set like the Carnation is pretty cool or perhaps a Swanson set but none of the big sets have much interest to me. I want to get my 1948 Magic Photo wrestling set complete and to get a couple graded for my 1955 Parkhurst set. For some reason the 1955s seem tougher to find than the 1954s.

I only have 1 full yearly set I'm working on, 1972 Football. All my other yearly sets are raw.

All my other registry sets are team sets and/or player sets for the Browns. With the lone exception being a Walter Payton Basic player set.
